How to Search

This website contains all of the published rulings of Iran-United States Claims Tribunal since its establishment in 1981.  It includes all the Tribunal Awards, Decisions, Interlocutory Awards, Interim Awards and some of the important Orders.  The program also provides the texts of the Tribunal Rules of Procedure, the Algiers Declarations (General Declaration and Claims Settlement Declaration) and also some other documents.

 

 

How to Search?

SEARCH

Open the search window by clicking on the “Search” Icon on top of the page 

 • Search By Document Title  :  In this box, you should enter the full name of the document that you have already selected.  In the case of Tribunal rulings (Awards, Decisions, ITL/ITM or Orders) a document’s full name consists of three sets of numbers separated by hyphens.  For instance, the full name of an Award could be:  10-205-2.  The first set of numbers (10) shows the Award number; the second, the Case number, and the last one the ruling Chamber (1-3).  In case of Full Tribunal rulings, the initials “FT” appear in place of the last number

• Full Text Search :   you can search inside the documents 
>       To find a phrase put the phrase in quotation mark such as; “phrase.” 
>       To find  a combination of two or more words in one document, type the words  with one space between each word, e.g., public law discovery

Advanced Search:

To make a more specific search using more detailed search criteria (e.g., Data type Case No., Doc. No., Award, Decision or ITM& ITL No.), click Advanced Search.  You will then be provided with the following additional search options:

>      Document Type:  In this box, select the type of Data that you are looking for:

1.      All Documents :  The programme searches all the available data. 
2.      Awards :  The programme searches the Tribunal Awards only
3.      Decisions :  The programme searches the Tribunal Decisions only
4.      ITLs, ITMs :  The programme searches the Tribunal’s Interlocutory and Interim Awards only
5.      Orders :  The programme search the Tribunal’s published orders only
6.      Other Documents :  Under this Title you can search: the Tribunal, the Tribunal’s Rules of Procedure, the Algiers Declarations,  some of International Treaties and Conventions, Registry Data .

>       Document No:  In this box, you are to enter the number corresponding to the document you have selected. Then click on “Search”.  The program will display the documents that meet your search criteria.

>        Case Number: Under this title, you can search documents by entering a case number only.
>        Chamber:  This enables you to conduct a search by chamber number.  To search Full Tribunal Rulings type “FT .” 
>        Claimant Name : You may find a document by typing the Claimant   name
>        Respondent name:  You may find a document by typing the Respondent name

>        Date Range:  You may search a document by filing data or confine your search to a specific period of time.

>        Description:  

  •  Under this heading, you may also retrieve the separate opinions of the Arbitrators.  In most cases, the separate opinions appear at the end of the relevant ruling.  At the top of the core document there is a hyperlink Title to each separate opinion. In some cases, separate opinions have been classified as independent documents under the related main Award, Decision, ITL or ITM.  Separate opinions of each arbitrator are further traceable by entering the appropriate Surnames.

>      Full Text Search Criteria:

VIEW A DOCUMENT:

1.      To view your individual search results, select the document you wish to see and click on the “View “icon on the page.
 
2.      Footnotes:  [FN ].  The Footnotes, Endnotes coming at the bottom of documents are hyperlinked to the text. You can, therefore, click back and forth on the footnote and the text to read them in tandem.
 
3.       Find:  You can search within the document by clicking on the FIND Icon in top of the page or by pressing Ctrl + F
 
4.      History:  You can track your previous search requests and results.

6.       Sign out :  To exit from the programme, click on the “ Sign Out” icon on the top of the main page  

REMARKS:

1. Do not leave any space, nor use punctuation marks between the letter and the number in a document‘s title (A24, B61).
2. You can combine two or more case numbers with each other, when they have been collectively terminated by a single Award or Decision.
